melissa-doug-chunky-puzzle
Melissa & Doug Shapes Wooden Chunky Puzzle (8 pcs) - FSC Certified

Eight familiar shapes in a chunky wooden puzzle

The Melissa & Doug Shapes Wooden Chunky Puzzle includes eight removable shapes on a wooden matching board: diamond, square, star, triangle, heart, rectangle, oval and circle. Each has a different color and a thick profile that can be grasped directly. The shape names are printed on the board, with matching pictures beneath the pieces. Choose it for a child ages 2 and up who is beginning to compare outlines, colors and positions. It offers a straightforward matching task without batteries, screens or small lifting pegs on top of the pieces.

Use the names and pictures to guide the matching

Begin by removing a few pieces and asking the child to find the matching picture. The printed name gives an adult a clear word to repeat while the child examines the outline and tries the shape in its space. A square and rectangle, or an oval and circle, provide useful pairs for noticing similarities and differences. Turn a piece gently until it fits rather than pushing it into the wrong opening. The child can work through all eight shapes or return to a smaller group when a shorter activity suits the moment.

Try simple sorting beside the board

The chunky pieces can stand upright and can also be handled away from their spaces for comparing, grouping or arranging. Name a color, look for a shape with corners or line up two pieces before returning them to the board. These are suggestions for using the physical pieces, not a promise that the puzzle teaches a skill on a fixed timetable. The board measures approximately 11.95 by 8.95 by 1 inch. Keep the pieces together for storage. Melissa & Doug’s FSC-certified-materials statement is limited to new inventory; check the packaging for that claim rather than assuming it applies to every older version.

Product specifications

Product specifications

Brand

Melissa & Doug

UPC / GTIN

000772037303

Recommended age

2 years and up

Removable pieces

8 shapes

Included base

Wooden board with printed shape names and matching pictures

Material

Wood

Approximate dimensions

11.95 × 8.95 × 1 in

Material certification

Manufacturer’s FSC claim applies to new inventory only

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0832/9828/7855/files/Melissa-Doug-Shapes-Wooden-Chunky-Puzzle-8-pcs-FSC-Certified_1b31adfe-6ec6-4801-a1b8-bb72a46675f9.e93fd44df23d57cb102c98b2e9e26eeb.jpg?v=1791139343
