What bristle firmness is it?
Medium. That is firmer than most dentists recommend for daily use, because medium and hard bristles contribute to gum recession and enamel abrasion over years. Plenty of people prefer the scrubbing feel of a medium brush, and if that is you, this is what you are buying. If you have receding gums or sensitivity, choose a soft brush instead.
What size is the head?
Full head, which covers more surface per stroke but is harder to maneuver behind the back molars than a compact head.
How often should I replace it?
Every three months, or sooner if the bristles splay outward. A splayed brush cleans measurably worse and is rougher on the gumline, which is why a two pack covers about six months.
What are the bristles made of?
Synthetic filament, cut to a medium firmness on a full size head.
How hard should I press when brushing?
Lightly. Pressure is what causes damage, not the brush itself, and a medium bristle transmits more of that pressure to the gum than a soft one. If the bristles are bending flat against the tooth, you are pressing too hard.
Is it suitable for children?
It is an adult brush with a full size head. Children need a smaller head and soft bristles.
Does it help with bad breath?
It is positioned for it, and brushing the tongue as well as the teeth is what actually addresses breath. A full head brush is workable for that; a tongue scraper does it better.
How does a manual brush compare with an electric one?
A manual brush cleans as well as an electric one when technique and timing are good. The gap is that most people brush for under a minute without a timer, which is where a powered brush with a built in timer wins.
