Care and maint A humid bathroom can be a tough environment for your brush, so we would recommend storing it in your Multi-Use Travel Cover with its bristles up to allow for ventilation to thoroughly air dry. Please avoid storing your quip Electric Toothbrush in any airtight spaces - this includes the shipping tube that your brush arrives in! To keep your quip Electric Toothbrush in the best shape possible, you can clean the upper white portion of your handle when refilling your brush head. Lightly wet the bristles of your old brush head and gently remove any toothpaste residue. If you don't have an old brush head handy, a damp paper towel will also do the trick. Be sure to dry all parts of your toothbrush before reassembling! Any moisture left inside the brush after cleaning can damage the motor and battery.

Questions about this product

What batteries does it take and how often do they need changing?

One AAA. The manufacturer's guidance is to swap the battery every 3 months, which is also the brush head replacement interval, so the two line up.

My brush stopped running or cuts out before two minutes. What should I check?

Work through these in order, because the usual cause is not the motor:

  1. Remove the battery and check both contacts for toothpaste residue. Paste creeping into the battery compartment and corroding the contacts is the most common cause of weak running or cutting out.
  2. Clean the contacts dry with a cotton bud and dry the compartment fully before reassembling.
  3. Check the seal ring is seated properly when you screw it back together. A poor seal lets moisture in and the fault returns within weeks.
  4. Fit a fresh battery from a different pack. A cell that still runs a remote can be too weak for a motor under load.

If it still cuts out after all four, the motor has failed and a new battery will not help.

Where should I store it?

Not in a humid bathroom if you can avoid it. The manufacturer's own care guidance notes that a humid bathroom is a tough environment for the brush, and moisture reaching the battery compartment is what produces the contact corrosion above. Somewhere ventilated, dried after use, upright.

How long is the timer and how does it work?

Two minutes, with pulses every thirty seconds to prompt moving to the next quadrant of the mouth. The timer is the main practical advantage over a manual brush, since most people underbrush without one.

Is it a sonic toothbrush?

No. It is a vibrating brush rather than a high frequency sonic. It is quieter and gentler than a sonic brush, which some people prefer, but it does less of the work for you, so technique matters more.

What bristle type and head size is it?

Soft bristles on a Full Head, which is the larger of the two head sizes and the adult fitting. Soft bristles are what dentists generally recommend, since medium and hard bristles contribute to gum recession over time. This version is finished in black.

How often should the head be replaced?

Every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles splay. Worn bristles clean measurably worse and are rougher on gums.

How do I clean the brush itself?

Wipe the upper white portion of the handle with a damp paper towel. Toothpaste builds up around the join between head and handle, and that build-up is what eventually works its way into the battery compartment.

When should I stop using it?

Stop immediately if you experience severe burning or itching. That is the manufacturer's own guidance and it applies to the brush regardless of which toothpaste you are using.

What does it help with?

It is positioned for cavity protection, gingivitis, plaque, and bad breath, which is the standard set for a timed powered brush. The benefit comes from consistent two minute brushing rather than from the vibration alone.

Is it worth it over a manual brush?

For the timer, yes. If you already brush a full two minutes with good technique, the gap narrows considerably and a high amplitude sonic brush would be the bigger upgrade.

What comes with it?

The brush with a full size head, a built in timer, and a travel case that doubles as a mirror mount.

Is there a warranty?

Warranty terms have changed over time and some reviewers bought theirs under an older, more generous policy. Check current terms with the manufacturer rather than relying on what older reviews describe.

What is the UPC?
