Dawn Platinum Plus PowerSuds Liquid Dish Soap, 38 oz

PowerSuds liquid for a sink full of dishes

Dawn Platinum Plus PowerSuds is a blue liquid dish soap for washing dishes by hand. This listing is for one 38 fl oz bottle. Choose it when you want a squeeze-bottle dishwashing liquid for a sponge or kitchen sink, particularly for a mix of greasy cookware, plates, glasses and plastic food containers.

PowerSuds uses Dawn's Trap & Lock grease-cleaning approach. The product is formulated to lift grease during dishwashing and keep it from moving between dishes as you clean. Its suds and rinsing performance are the useful features to compare here, alongside bottle volume and the type of dishwashing you normally do.

For pots, pans, plates and plasticware

A meal can leave several different cleaning jobs: a greasy pan, food residue on plates, used utensils and an oily plastic container. Dawn identifies those sorts of dishes and cookware as applications for PowerSuds. Check the care directions for each item before washing, especially if it has a finish or material that needs a particular cleaning method.

The 38 fl oz volume describes the amount of liquid in this bottle, not the number of washes. How quickly you use it will depend on the amount dispensed and the dishes being cleaned. Compare fluid-ounce quantities when checking bottle sizes rather than treating product names or bottle shapes as a guide to how much detergent you receive.

Use with a sponge and rinse thoroughly

The product directions allow you to dispense the liquid into the sink or directly onto a sponge. For direct sponge use, Dawn's handwashing guide starts with a damp sponge and a small amount of concentrated dish liquid. Work the soap through the sponge, wash the dishes and rinse them thoroughly with water before drying.

Scrape leftover food into the trash first and collect used cooking grease for disposal rather than pouring it down the drain. Dawn's handwashing guide also recommends working through utensils and glassware before finishing the larger, dirtier cookware. This gives you an organized washing routine for a mixed load without requiring a separate detergent for each kind of dish.

Choose the correct Dawn product format

PowerSuds liquid and Dawn Powerwash spray are different formats. This 38 fl oz product is liquid dish soap dispensed from a bottle. Powerwash is a separately formulated dish spray applied through its own sprayer. Use the directions for the product you actually own rather than transferring spray-product instructions, refill assumptions or performance comparisons to this liquid.

Likewise, this is a hand dishwashing product. The label says it is not for use in dishwashers. That distinction is especially important when a shopping list simply calls for dish detergent: automatic-dishwasher detergent and sink-side washing-up liquid serve different applications.
