About this product
A trial-size Cool Cotton laundry rinse
This Downy Rinse & Refresh offer contains one 16 fluid ounce bottle in Cool Cotton scent. It is a fabric rinse used with detergent to help rinse away odors and residues during the rinse stage. The trial-size format lets you choose a smaller supply of this particular fragrance. Although the product uses the washer’s liquid softener compartment, the manufacturer distinguishes Rinse & Refresh from traditional liquid fabric softener. Keep the product’s rinse role clear when comparing other Downy laundry bottles.
Use the rinse stage and keep products separate
Add your normal washing detergent, then use Rinse & Refresh in the liquid fabric softener dispenser or add it directly during rinsing, following the bottle and machine directions. Select the amount for the load and its odor-removal needs without exceeding the dispenser’s maximum fill line. Downy says not to use Rinse & Refresh with bleach or liquid fabric softener in the same load. The softener compartment is designed to hold one product at a time, so do not mix rinse and conditioner together there.
Retain the handling and measuring information
The bottle is labeled as an eye irritant. Avoid eye contact, keep it securely away from children and follow the handling instructions on the original label. Keep the bottle closed between uses and retain its identity rather than transferring the liquid into an unlabeled container. The 16 fluid ounce volume describes the amount of rinse supplied; the number of loads depends on dosing. Check the garment care directions and machine instructions each time so the rinse addition fits the load’s care routine.

Questions about this product
What quantity and fragrance are included?
The offer contains one 16 fluid ounce bottle of Downy Rinse & Refresh in Cool Cotton scent. It is the smaller trial-size bottle, not a multi-bottle pack. Detergent and other laundry products are separate purchases, and the liquid amount does not represent a fixed load count.
Is Rinse & Refresh the same as regular liquid softener?
The manufacturer identifies it as a rinse aid that helps remove odors and residues, and says it replaces liquid fabric softener for that load. The shared dispenser compartment does not make the products interchangeable or mean they should be combined in the same wash.
Can I use it with bleach or fabric softener?
No. Downy’s instructions exclude bleach and liquid fabric softener in the same load as Rinse & Refresh. Use the softener compartment for one product at a time and keep the products separate. Follow the bottle directions rather than mixing laundry additions together.
Where and when do I add the rinse?
Use the liquid fabric softener dispenser or add it directly during the rinse cycle, as appropriate for the washer. Follow the appliance directions for timing and settings. Add your usual detergent separately for washing rather than using the rinse as a detergent replacement.
How do I choose an amount for the load?
Follow the bottle directions and the manufacturer’s load-size and odor-removal guidance. If dispensing into the softener compartment, observe its maximum fill line. Different doses change how many washes the 16 fluid ounce bottle covers, so do not treat the bottle volume as a guaranteed load count.
What handling precautions should stay with the bottle?
The front label warns that it is an eye irritant. Avoid eye contact, keep the original label available for complete handling instructions and store the closed bottle securely away from children. Also retain the restrictions against bleach and liquid softener when planning each load.
