About this product

Three twenty-eight-ounce bottles of rust stain remover powder

This Iron OUT Rust Stain Remover Powder bundle contains three bottles, each holding 1 pound 12 ounces, or 28 ounces. The combined powder quantity is 84 ounces. Select it for directed rust-stain removal on permitted household surfaces, with separate procedures for tubs, sinks, tile, toilet bowls and tanks. Always pretest in an inconspicuous area and read the entire label before use.

Wet bathroom surfaces and rinse after treating stains

For tubs, sinks and tile, wet the area first. Apply powder to a damp sponge or cloth, rub lightly until stains disappear and rinse. The product is not recommended for older, worn or chipped porcelain cast-iron fixtures. It is also not recommended for wood, painted materials or exposed, corroding metal. Check the actual surface condition before choosing the rust treatment.

Keep toilet bowl and tank procedures separate

Remove other cleaners or deodorants from the bowl or tank and flush first. For the bowl, add one-half cup to the water, scrub the stained area with a brush, let stand until stains are gone and flush. For the tank, raise water above the stain line if possible, add one-half cup and let stand overnight or until stains disappear.

Use an open container and protect against dust and vapors

Only mix with water in an adequate open container because the reaction releases gas that can burst a closed container. Do not mix with other household cleaners or chemicals. Use adequate ventilation, avoid breathing dust or vapors and wear rubber gloves. People with respiratory problems or sulfite sensitivity should not use this product because its vapors may cause breathing difficulty.

Questions about this product

How many bottles and how much powder are included?

The bundle supplies three 28-ounce bottles. Each bottle’s 1-pound-12-ounce label equals 28 ounces, so the combined amount is 84 ounces. This is the powder rust-stain remover. Keep the task-specific instructions and open-container mixing restriction with each bottle when storing or distributing the three-bottle supply.

Can I dissolve the powder in a spray bottle?

No. Mix only with water in an adequate open container. The powder reacts with water and releases gas, which can cause a closed container to burst. Retain the original powder application instructions instead of making a sealed homemade spray. Do not combine it with other household cleaners or chemicals.

How should I use it for rust stains on a sink or tub?

Pretest a hidden area first, wet the surface, apply powder to a damp sponge or cloth and rub lightly until stains disappear. Rinse afterward. Do not use this procedure on older, worn or chipped porcelain cast-iron fixtures. Wood, painted materials and exposed, corroding metal are also outside the recommended scope.

What contact and breathing precautions apply?

The powder contains sodium hydrosulfite and sodium metabisulfite and carries eye, skin and harmful-vapor precautions. Avoid contact and breathing dust or vapors, especially after mixing with water. Use adequate ventilation and rubber gloves, keep away from children and pets, and retain the full first-aid directions. Respiratory problems or sulfite sensitivity are reasons not to use it.

Can I use bleach or peroxide alongside this rust treatment?

Do not mix with other household cleaners or chemicals, including bleach or peroxide products. Remove cleaners or deodorants from a toilet bowl or tank and flush before beginning that treatment. Keep the complete application instructions with the selected task, along with ventilation, protective-glove and open-container requirements.
