About this product

A twenty-two-fluid-ounce mineral-deposit cleaner

Lime-A-Way supplies one twenty-two-fluid-ounce trigger bottle for removing lime, calcium and rust deposits from suitable bathroom surfaces. The formula contains sulfamic acid and has a directed spray, wipe and rinse process. Keep the original bottle available when selecting the cleaning area, particularly where the bathroom has several different materials, finishes or decorative fittings around the same fixture.

Use the nozzle lock and complete the rinse

Wear rubber gloves and eye protection, unlock the nozzle, spray the soiled area, wipe with a damp cloth or sponge and rinse well with water; reclose and store the nozzle locked. To open, press the tab and hold it down while turning the nozzle. After use, turn the nozzle back until the tab locks into position, retaining the original instructions.

Check the finish before treating mineral buildup

Exclude natural marble, stone, terrazzo, metallic or painted surfaces, colored grout and countertops; test a hidden area if unsure, and never mix with bleach or other household chemicals. Polished or anodized aluminum is also excluded. The cleaner may etch older or worn porcelain tubs and sinks or ceramic tile, so assess the actual condition and finish before application.

Keep the treatment within its permitted purpose

Avoid contact with wood, fabric and wallpaper. Wipe up spills immediately and rinse with water. The cleaner is unsuitable for food-contact surfaces and should not be used on cookware, coffee makers, tea kettles, humidifiers or washing machines. Keep those exclusions with the cleaning method when choosing how to remove hard-water deposits elsewhere in the home.

Retain corrosive-cleaner handling precautions

The product is corrosive, causes eye and skin damage and is harmful if swallowed. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing, do not breathe vapor or mist, and use in a well-ventilated area. Keep out of children’s reach. Mixing with bleach or other household chemicals can release harmful fumes; retain the complete first-aid panel alongside the closed bottle.

Questions about this product

Does the spray need a final rinse?

Yes. Spray to cover the soiled area, wipe with a damp cloth or sponge and rinse well with water. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection, then reclose the nozzle until its tab locks. Keep the fixture’s finish requirements and the cleaner’s material exclusions with that process.

Can it remove scale inside a coffee maker or pet-water dish?

The label excludes food-contact surfaces, cookware, coffee makers and tea kettles, along with humidifiers and washing machines. Choose a cleaning process specifically permitted for the actual item. Keep this product’s bathroom mineral-deposit application separate from those excluded uses when planning household cleaning supplies.

What should happen if cleaner reaches an eye?

Immediately rinse the eye thoroughly with water, remove contact lenses and continue rinsing for at least fifteen minutes. Obtain immediate medical attention. For skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water and obtain immediate medical attention, retaining the container or label for advice.

Can every porcelain or tiled surface be treated?

Older or worn porcelain tubs and sinks or ceramic tile may be etched. Test a hidden area if unsure and check the surface manufacturer’s care instructions. Natural marble, stone, colored grout and the other labeled excluded materials remain unsuitable even when the main task is hard-water removal.

I've bought this before. I use it on my pots and pans, and it's a good cleaner that makes them shine.

The best lime remover

I love this. It takes off all the scaly buildup and makes things look new again. It's really rough on your hands, but that's on me for not wearing gloves.

I've wasted a lot of money on so-called bathroom cleaners, especially for the toilet. They're fine for most stains, but they do nothing for lime scale. The easiest and best way to get rid of lime and calcium buildup is a cleaner made for exactly that. Since I started using Lime-A-Way regularly, I don't have a ring in the bowl anymore.

It does the job really well.

Not for me...

It's too strong! I let it sit on my old glass shower doors, and it discolored my bathtub drain. It barely took off the hard water stains. Still, I know other people have had great results on newer glass shower doors.

Cleaning the toilet bowl wasn't as easy as I'd hoped, because the water stains didn't come off. I'll try it on another surface to see how it does there.
