How many bags are in a pack and what size are they?
300 bags, sandwich size, with a 0.67 quart capacity each. That fits a standard sandwich, cut fruit, or a snack portion. It is not large enough for a wrap laid flat or a full bagel sandwich.
What is the closure?
A double zipper with a pinch and seal action. Two tracks rather than one, which is what gives it a firmer seal than a single track bag once it is aligned.
The zipper will not line up or close. Is that normal?
It happens on a small number of bags in a box. The cause is the two tracks sitting slightly offset at one edge. Start the seal from one corner and run your fingers across slowly rather than pressing the middle first. A bag that is genuinely misaligned at the seam will not seal and is a defect rather than technique.
Can I use them in the freezer?
For short term freezing of a few weeks, yes. They are a sandwich bag rather than a freezer bag, so the film is thinner and offers less protection against freezer burn over months. For longer storage use a purpose made freezer bag.
Are they BPA free and food safe?
Yes. They are BPA free polyethylene and rated for food contact.
Are they microwave safe?
They can be used for defrosting at low power with the bag left open. Do not microwave them sealed and do not cook in them, because the seam can open under heat.
What are they made of and what color is the zipper?
Clear polyethylene. The zipper color has changed between production runs, which catches out buyers expecting a specific color from a previous pack. The bag itself is unchanged.
How does the 300 count compare with buying smaller boxes?
Materially cheaper per bag than the 50 count boxes, which is the most common reason reviewers repurchase this size. It is the same bag, just more of them.
Can I reuse them?
For dry goods, yes, and many reviewers do. Wash in warm soapy water and dry fully inverted. Do not reuse a bag that has held raw meat, fish, or egg.
