How many loads does one bottle do?
96 loads from 150 fluid ounces. That works out at roughly 1.5 fl oz per load, which is the lower cap line rather than a full cap.
How much should I use per load?
The lower line on the cap for a normal load. This is an ultra concentrated formula, and overdosing is the most common self inflicted problem with it. Too much detergent leaves residue on fabric and makes the scent sit heavier in the wash rather than rinsing out.
Is it safe for HE machines?
Yes. It is rated High Efficiency and works in front loaders and HE top loaders.
Is it color safe?
Yes. It carries a color safe rating and can go in with mixed and dark loads without a separate detergent.
How does it handle stains?
Stain removal is a rated feature and it is what most of the long running positive reviews are about, particularly odor in gym and work clothing that other detergents leave behind. A minority of reviewers say heavy stain lifting is not as strong in the current formula as in the previous one.
What does it smell like?
The scent is listed as Deep Clean in the fresh family. It was reformulated and is now noticeably stronger and more perfumed than the version the brand built its reputation on. If you have used Persil Original for years and are repurchasing on that memory, the scent is the thing that has changed.
Is the previous formula still available?
It is being phased out rather than sold alongside. Remaining stock of the older formula appears sporadically, but Deep Clean is the current production version.
What is actually in it?
Water and C12-15 alcohols are the primary ingredients, the latter being the surfactant group doing the cleaning.
What should I use if I am sensitive to fragrance?
Persil's Sensitive Skin line carries the same cleaning system without the fragrance load of the Original line. Given that fragrance is the specific thing people are reacting to in the current formula, that is the direct swap.
How should I store it?
Upright, somewhere that does not freeze. A concentrated liquid detergent that has frozen and thawed can separate, and shaking does not always fully recombine it.
