No. Both faces perform identically; the difference is a byproduct of manufacture.
Can I use it for freezing?
For short term, yes, but foil creases and lets air in at the folds. For anything beyond a few weeks a freezer bag or a lidded container protects better.
Why does my roll tear raggedly?
Usually the roll has shifted in the box and the cutter is not catching the edge squarely. Push the roll back flush against the end of the box and pull at a shallow angle rather than straight up.
Is it recyclable?
Clean foil is in many areas; food-soiled foil is not.
