How many pacs are in the tub?
45 pacs, which is 45 loads at one pac per normal load.
What do the Downy boosters add?
Fabric softener in the same pac as the detergent, so one pac does both jobs. It is the reason to buy this over a plain Power Pod, and the reason not to if you already use a separate softener.
How do I use them?
Add pacs to the drum before clothes, which the label states in capitals, then close the lid tightly after use. Both instructions matter: the first for dissolving, the second for keeping the remaining pacs dry.
Why does the lid need to close tightly?
Pacs absorb moisture from the air and fuse together. A tub left open is the most common way a 45 count becomes one solid block.
How many pacs per load?
One for a normal load, two for a large or heavily soiled one.
Is it heavy-duty?
It carries a heavy-duty feature rating, which puts it above a standard everyday pac for soil. The softener component is separate from that.
What does it smell like?
April Fresh, which is the Downy scent rather than a Tide one. Scent is the most mentioned thing in the positive reviews.
Why is this rated lower than the other Power PODS?
It sits at 4.16 against 4.77 for the plain Oxi Boost version, with 14 one star in the sample. The recurring themes are the softener scent not suiting everyone and pacs fusing in the tub. Both are avoidable: scent is a preference, and the fusing is what the tight lid instruction addresses.
Can I use fabric softener as well?
You can, but there is little point. The softener is already in the pac, and doubling it is what leaves a waxy feel on towels.
Can I use them on towels?
Softener reduces towel absorbency over time. Many people use a plain detergent pac for towels and keep this one for clothing.
Do they work in a high efficiency machine?
Yes, in HE and standard machines. Drum first, then the laundry.
